Hello everyone,

My name is Angelo, built in 1975. I live in Monopoli, near Bari, a city situated on the Adriatic coast surrounded by land, sea and sun. I've always had a passion for curiosity and indeed, what more could satisfy my curiosity if not the radio? Discovering reality in the world ether, hear strange sounds, which today recognizes RTTY, CW, NAVTEX, etc. ... but at the time, I only got sound. After middle school, I joined I.P.S.I.A.M. (Professional Institute for Industry and Marine operations) address I.A.E.E. (Installer Electrical Electronic Equipment) graduating then as T.I.E.E. (Technical Industries Electrical Electronic Equipment). Thanks also to the teachings of the school electronics, and telecommunications that have instilled in me even more passion for radio. Today, happily married, father of a beautiful child. As a profession have been working as metalworker, rectifier engine.

SOME OF PERSONAL HISTORY ...

Going back in time, a sincere heart, I must say that the spark has gone all thanks to my uncle "uncle Minguccio". He worked at a wholesale fish warehouse and often watched from the house, the call addressed to the CB vessels. I could hear distant voices in the typical response of QRM, where I could not understand anything, but his ear is used. At that point I asked him "Uncle, but what did they say? And he said: They are 40, 50 miles from the coast and arrive in port early in the afternoon. For me, a thing of science fiction, able to communicate at a considerable distance, imagining just at that moment where you could find the vessel. From there, almost every afternoon I was at his house while he slept and I approached a unit supertechnological Midland Alan 34S hi! A touch on the power supply and so on ... he used to leave on the ON / OFF of the CB. Turning the control channel, I began to hear voices very clear, clean and understandable, even to recognize voices of some friends. What intrigued me a lot, so much to ask these friends with fear (I do not know why ...): But you talk to the CB? When the answer was yes, at that moment, I was the happiest kid in the world. Hence began the ascent to the world of radio. My first radio a Midland CB Alan 38, 40 CH 5w portable power and an antenna with magnetic base on the railing of the balcony of my room. Clearly, information and request, I applied for the grant request with CB 16.01.1992 Today I still jealously. In December 1994, took the award SWL. I enjoy listening to a radio that I had at home, bought by my father (then by sea on tankers) from Japan with a JVC listening LW - MW - SW. Using a screwdriver, opened the rear bodywork, welding a filler F PL mount, in order to connect the external magnetic antenna, and here I saw that the meter needle is raised considerably, making me listen to stations BCL from Asia, the South America etc. ... Over time, he managed to buy a non-certified CB (my god!) With 215 + CH + alpha channel sideband. And this was another discovery, because the SSB even allowed me to talk to the north of Italy, France, Spain, etc. .... Finally I began to collect QSL cards and certificates and to use the CB not only for the evening chatting with friends, but also to undertake a journey in Groups CB radio (I remember someone Alfa Tango, Sugar Delta, Delta Radio), in which I was writing for several  years and have participated in some DX pedition as the island of Saint Andrew in Gallipoli (LE), the 'Hermit Island in Polignano a Mare (BA).

Ah! One very important thing. My YL, I met thanks to the CB, because she was a CB'ers. With the money I could earn the extra waiter was able to buy a receiver that even today, should be written with a capital R: AOR AR-3000A. I felt a little better than my friends, having paid a receiver station in the beauty of 1,600,000 pounds and have the chance to listen to this all more refined as the knowledge of the code Q, listening CW, the NATO phonetic alphabet, and participate in contests such as SWL, BCL, receive faxes, etc ...

In September 1995, comes the military service in the Navy and thanks to knowledge of the CB and radio-listening, I was assigned the category TLC (yahooo!!). I attended a course at STELMILIT Chiavari (GE) to produce an excellent rating at the end of examination with the certificate. I am so moved to STP of Taranto, in the midst of a sea of teletype (RTTY) and related areas drilled with NOS authorization (security clearance). In 2002, finally took place. Thanks to the insistence of friends IZ7DJV Tonino and IZ7DTI Walter, I am among the OM. I do not reject my past as absolutely CB'ers (unlike many who do OM). For me it was a real school. And if you think that today there are many OM that have a call sign (do not know how ...) and who can not turn on a HF radio or whatever,  asking friends to teach him something more advanced. ... Well! Makes me angry! A passion was born in 14 years and has never ceased to exist. I thank the two friends mentioned, my parents Mom Lella and Dad Paul who gave me the opportunity to cultivate this  particular moral passion always leaving a free space and in particular my wife and my son Paul, who like all the wives of radio amateurs, we bear but at the same time support us in our activities.

Thanks Luciana.
